Do you have a question about mermaids or the ocean?
Q. What do you think about plastic going in the ocean and conservation awareness? Also, what's your favourite beach to go to? - Maya A. I think it's extremely important to spread awareness of plastic in the ocean. The ocean isn't just important to mermaids and sea live, it sustains all life on the planet! It produces much of the oxygen we breathe and helps to stabilize the climate. So it's very important to spread love for the ocean and to help stop any more plastic from entering it. Beach cleans also help to take out some of the plastic that it already in the ocean. I love all of Cornwall's beaches, but I especially love to sunbathe on a beach that has been lovingly cleaned by humans.
Q. What do you like to do? - Grace A. I love exploring! I love to find shipwrecks out to sea, and I even love to swim inland through rivers and explore woodland creeks and lakes. I even swam as far as Bodmin Moor once and met a friendly sheep!
Q. Can I turn into a mermaid in second or does it take time for it to transform? A. This depends on what type of mermaid you are. Some mermaids transform when they touch the water. Some use magic to transform. Some mermaids don't have tails at all, and some mermaids only get their tails after they have earned them, by doing good deeds for the ocean.
Q. How do you transform? Does it just happen when you're in water or do you have to shift slowly? A. Mermaids can only transform in private. Every mermaid has a different way of transforming, I use a magic ring called a 'Moon Ring'! So I can transform whenever I like.
Q. I want to become a mermaid can you teach me please it is my dream? A. Hello, Becoming a mermaid is easier than you think! 'Mermaid' means 'lady of the sea'. If you love the ocean, then you can be a mermaid. Help us to protect the ocean and become a 'lady of the sea'
Q. Do you perhaps know any real mermaid spells that will turn me into a mermaid by using a necklace? A. There are no spells to turn you into a Mermaid, however becoming one is simple! 'Mermaid' means 'lady of the sea'. If you love the ocean, then you can be a mermaid. All you need to do is protect and help keep the ocean clean.
Q. Hello my name is parris and I want to ask an important question that been on my mind. So say I'm a mermaid and I use lotion and the ingredients in the lotion says water (aqua) can I use it? A. That's a very good question! I suppose it depends on what kind of mermaid you are. I use moisturizer everyday to keep my skin from drying out (because I'm not in the ocean) and so far It hasn't transformed me.
Q: Can you breathe underwater? A: I cannot breathe underwater. I have to come up for air every now and then, just like a dolphin. Q: Can you walk on land, like Ariel in the movie? A: Like all mermaids I can come out of the water and I have a magical ring called a 'Moon Ring' that I can use to change my beautiful tail into legs so that I can walk on land. I can also use it to do other magical things!
Q: Why don't you have long hair? A: Well I did have long hair! But I love exploring underwater caves and shipwrecks. My hair used to get tangled and stuck on the coral or ship masts. It wasn't much fun! So I got it cut short.
Q: Why does your tail change? A: A mermaid's tail can change for many reasons! Sometimes is can change with the seasons. For example it can be more colourful in summer. Our tails can also change as we grow older. Younger mermaids may not have their scales yet.
Q: Why are you passionate about the ocean? A: The ocean is my beautiful home! But it's also very important to land people too! Without the ocean none of us would be here. Sadly some of us take it for granted and drop rubbish into it, and this can hurt the ocean and all the wonderful creatures in it.
Q: Do you know any other mermaids? A: Yes, I know many other mermaids from all other the ocean. All with different shaped and coloured tails!
Q: What would you hope to do about saving the ocean? A: I hope that by sharing my world with other people, that I can inspire people to help too! One step at a time we can teach people to be kind to the ocean, so that one day we can save it!
